Fishing in the Gairloch Area back cover About the Authors

Harry Davis
Harry is a local angler with more than thirty years of experience in fishing the Gairloch area. He is passionate about angling and has an enviable knowledge of the locality which he shares with others in this book. Harry takes his toothbrush when he goes fishing, not because he intends to stay away from home but because he likes to brush the hackles on his flies. That is an indication of his dedication to angling!

Les Lamb
Les lives and works in Gairloch as an artist. Before the paint dries on his latest work he likes nothing better than to be out on a nearby loch watching his dry fly bobbing on the surface. Les loves to fish and is an accomplished angler. He manages the Anchorage Fisheries, sharing with Harry Davis a passion for angling in the Gairloch area. His knowledge on fly fishing on the local lochs is immense.

Stan Frost
Stan is a frequent visitor to the Gairloch area, returning year after year to experience the exhilaration of walking the hills of Wester Ross to fish the local lochs. In his contribution to this book Stan ensures that the visiting angler is well catered for with clear descriptions of where to fish including grid references, how to fish including fly patterns and the size of fish to realistically expect to catch.

Read Stan's introduction to the book

We wrote 'Fishing in the Gairloch Area' as a guide to help visiting anglers find their way around the many lochs and lochans around Gairloch. The region is truly a fishing paradise for wild brown trout but it is not always clear where to start. The book attempts to help, describing the location of each loch, the permit required, where the fish can be found and what can reasonably be expected to be caught. Beyond this introduction the book is not prescriptive and it is up to the visiting angler to create a memorable experience.
